About the Design Asia trip
In April, an exhilarating opportunity emerged: NHL Stenden sought students for a 14-day “Grand Tour minor test” in Bangkok, Thailand. Initially, the prospect of leaving Western Europe for Asia was daunting, given my limited travel experience. However, the rich tapestry of Bangkok's culture and its bustling streets quickly transformed hesitation into anticipation.

The challenge
Optimizing the 'Grand Tour' minor for a three-month immersive student experience in Bangkok posed a significant challenge. The aim was to balance academic thoroughness with the unique learning opportunities of the locale. Personally, it was my furthest journey from home, experiencing new independence without family support. Adapting to a different culture and educational setting was both challenging and thrilling.
The solution
To address the challenges of the 'Grand Tour' minor and my personal journey in Bangkok, I embraced a two-pronged approach: maintaining a detailed daily diary and capturing countless photographs. These practices not only preserved the trip's highlights but also honed my photography skills. Upon returning to the Netherlands, I compiled these photographs and diary entries into a captivating presentation.
